Our Props

For our trailer, we decided to include props to add realism and horror. As being one of the main aspects or 'icons' of our film, we wanted to include a Syringe (which within our narrative Balthazar injects his victims with his own blood.) To prepare our syringe: Samia purchased a "Oral Syringe" generally used for giving medicine to babies, or animals. Which were available at any local pharmacy or supermarket, plus purchasing mechanical pencil lead from a ‘Paperchase’ store. Finally she filled the tip of the Syringe with some blue tack and inserted the pencil lead which then gave the effect of a needle. Of course, it was very difficult to purchase or get hold of an actual Injecting Syringe which can also be dangerous for both the production team and the actors as it can easily penetrate the skin. Pencil lead however is very brittle so is easily snapped if too much pressure is put on the actor, it was also a very innovative experience in creating our own.
